It’s an open secret that rave parties happen in our city quite frequently. A peek at this glamourous and dangerous world! Most raves happen in the ouskirts of the city and needless to say are organised by the well-heeled with the right connections with drug peddlers. Invitations are by word-of-mouth and extremely discreet. Raves can happen at anytime but usually begin around 11.00 p.m.and go on till 10 a.m. Celebs, businessmen, filmi types, Page 3 types, BPO employees are the typical rave goers. Raves don’t come cheap – entry without a ‘trip’ costs Rs.500 while each ‘trip’ costs Rs.1000 upwards depending on the drugs chosen and the quantity. The most commonly preferred drugs are Ecstacy, marijuana , cocaine, heroin, brown sugar and MDMA. Anyone between 13 to 60 can be found at these parties which can be best described as fool’s paradise. Despite the glamour tag attched to these parties, the dangers of addiction are very real. The price paid for a bit of fun can be very high and these ‘trips’ are definitely not worth it as many rave regulars end up mental wrecks.
